VGCC Testing Center Information & Study Guides: VGCC Placement Testing

Academic Placement at VGCC

Starting Spring 2020, Vance-Granville has a new placement policy called Rise that uses unweighted US high school GPA to determine placement instead of testing for all eligible students.  Students can only sit for the RISE test 2 times within 10 years.

Only the following students will be allowed to take the RISE placement test:

  • Students who graduated from high school over 10 years from their entry into VGCC
  • Students who graduated from a foreign high school
  • Students who earned an Adult High School Diploma
  • Students whose GED or HiSET scores do not demonstrate mastery

For more information about RISE and testing, see the VGCC Testing Services webpage.
