Screen Readers

JAWS Screen Reader
The Vance-Granville Community College library has a computer with the JAWS Screen Reader installed. The acronym JAWS stands for Job Access With Speech. This screen reader is compatible with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Microsoft Office, and Windows 8. It also contains an OCR feature to make text in PDFs readable.

Introduction to Echo Smartpens

The Vance-Granville Community College Library has two Livescribe Echo Smartpens availabe for checkout. The smartpens can capture notes taken during class in order to play them back at a later date. Notes and recordings can also be uploaded to a computer for easy playback.

Increasing Font Size

Increasing font size in Microsoft Word

There are three ways to enlarge the font size in Microsoft Word.

Hold down the Control key on the keyboard and scroll up with the mouse scroll wheel.
Use the zoom slider in the bottom right hand corner. Using the zoom slider can increase the font size by 500%.
Press the Alt key while typing the letters W Q E. The cursor will be in a field where the font size can be increased by a percentage. Type the number and then press enter.
